TSR Legal have recently been instructed by a global leader in their search for an IN House Commercial Contracts Solicitor. The role will report into the Head of Legal. As part of the in house legal team you will provide commercially-focused legal and compliance advice across business. You will be focussed on delivering excellent advice on sales contracts, research and joint development agreements, non-disclosure agreements and in supporting the wider legal team to develop and support the business. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to really contribute to companies future successes.

Location: South Wales,Near St Mellons Business Park

To assist in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements and documentation. To work closely with, and provide advice to, key stakeholders and business colleagues on a wide range of commercial legal matters.


1.Liaise with and proactively support business functions and teams on a variety of existing and new projects requiring a commercial legal input.

2.Draft/review and negotiate the content and terms of commercial contracts and support the business by ensuring that contracts and contract amendments achieve an optimal commercial outcome.

3.Ensure contracts and other documents minimise legal and commercial risk.

4.Support all stakeholders on matters relating to commercial law and practice, particularly in relation to the following areas:

  1. Customer contracts;

  1. Supplier contracts; and

  1. Subcontractor contracts.

5.Comply with standard policies, systems and processes to improve efficiency/standardisation of approach and to ensure a quality service which mitigates risk and meets the commercial needs of the business.

6.Ensure commercial contracts are summarised and updated.

7.Meet internal requirements/KPIs with regard to reporting to/assisting key stakeholders.

8.Liaise closely with the business and key stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are understood and fulfilled.

9.Raise awareness of commercial issues and respond to day to day questions in respect of contractual and commercial obligations.

10.Liaise with/instruct external counsel when/where appropriate and assist in the management of external resource within budget.

11.Work in partnership with commercial/sales colleagues on bids/tenders to identify and mitigate contractual and operational risks ,compliance.

Person Specification

1.Ideally, a qualified solicitor with 2 -4 years’ PQE.

2.Experience of dealing with general commercial matters, including commercial contracts.

3.Excellent all round communication skills, including the capability to develop and maintain strong business relationships.

4.Ability to collaborate and work effectively with other colleagues across the business.

5.Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, and accustomed to working with diverse teams of people.

6.A track record of consistently delivering to targets and objectives whilst under pressure and up against tight deadlines.

7.Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development. Self-aware and committed to continuous improvement.

8.Industry-specific experience is not a necessity.
