Job Details
We are inviting applications for a Section Head in our Licensing, Communities and Corporate Section, £61,284 – £67,413 (Dir 52.5%)
Our ambition is to be the best council and the best city in the UK.
Leeds is recognised as the leading legal centre in the UK outside London and the City Council is the second largest metropolitan local authority in the UK.
In Legal Services, we’re proud to reflect the diversity of Leeds and to be a welcoming and inclusive team with a positive, healthy workplace culture where everyone can be themselves.
We need a “can do” senior leader who is a solicitor, barrister or FCILEX and who, supported by two team leaders, will successfully lead a section delivering first class legal advice on a range of matters including Employment, Licensing; Education; Adult Social Care; Anti-Social Behaviour; Prosecutions and general local government matters. The ideal candidate will be an expert on Employment law.
It is just as important that you share our ambition to be the best local authority in-house legal service, and that working collaboratively and valuing everyone in the team comes naturally to you. You’ll also need to love “adding value” to our Service by knowing how the Council works, giving a personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, living our Values and helping the Council achieve its goals, adding to the Legal life of Leeds, getting the most from our tech systems and encouraging the team to generate external income where possible.
The role offers attractive benefits including: access to West Yorkshire Pension Scheme; generous annual leave entitlement; training and development; supportive staff networks; and flexible working, including working from home.
For an informal discussion, please contact Nicole Walker on 0113 378 89025 or Mark Turnbull on 0113 378 9151.
The closing date for applications is 15th April 2021. Interviews will take place on 27th and 28th April 2021
