The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

We are looking for 3 additional Lawyer/Senior Lawyers to undertake public law children work, joining our experienced and friendly legal team.  The role will involve advice and representation in relation to care proceedings, pre-proceedings and other public law children matters.  You will need to have relevant legal knowledge and the ability to manage a demanding caseload.  The work is sensitive, often complex and very rewarding. You should have good communication and IT skills, be able to act under pressure in the face of competing demands and to work to tight deadlines.  The role also involves providing supervision and support to more junior staff.

You will be a solicitor entitled to practice in England and holding a current practising certificate, a barrister entitled to practice ]in England and holding a current practising certificate or a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
