The role

We are now seeking a planning solicitor or legal executive to work within our busy planning team. Our team has a diverse client base working with a large range of private clients on rural, equestrian, and householder developments, as well as caravan park owners, leisure operators and local authorities including parish and town councils. Many of our referrals come from other departments in the firm including our nationally recognised Social Housing team, and the residential conveyancing team. Our clients are based throughout England and Wales and so there are opportunities to travel within this role.

The work is extremely varied and will include preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals, certificate of lawfulness applications and appeals, advising on enforcement matters, and section 106 Agreements. Additionally, there will be opportunities to advise on neighbourhood planning and local plans. Some experience in environmental matters would be an advantage.

About you

Coming from a background in either private practice or a local authority you will have experience as a planning solicitor or legal executive and will be keen to run your own files from applications through to appeals. The role could suit a more experienced lawyer who is looking for a new challenge or to work part time.

Key to this role is the ability to communicate well and to provide high levels of client care.

The office is based in the city centre of Exeter and for applicants who are considering relocating to Devon this role will allow you to have a good work life balance and the ability to enjoy the beautiful countryside!
