Law Costs Draftsperson
A London office of a national law firm providing legal services to health, social care and emergency services sectors require a defendant Law Costs Draftsperson to deal with drafting bills and points of dispute relating to clinical negligence matters.
Employing over 500 staff and acting for a wide range of long standing clients in both the public and private sector, including all forms of NHS organisations, governmental and regulatory bodies, registered providers, insurers, police, fire and rescue services, independent health and social care providers, charities and GP practices.
The main duties and responsibilities will be:
·Drafting Bills of Costs and Points of Dispute;
·Negotiating settlement of costs;
·Preparing Precedent H Costs Budgets and other cost budgeting documents in preparation for and following CCMCs;
·Preparing Statements of Costs for summary assessment;
·Liaising with and advising fee earners on a variety of legal costs issues throughout ongoing matters;
·Ensuring compliance with internal case management requirements and client procedures and KPIs.
A Legal Costs Draftsperson with 1 year + defendant experience ideally in Clinical Negligence matters. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge and negotiation skills.
·Experience as a Legal Costs Draftsman is essential
·Costs negotiation experience
·Good understanding and application of the Civil Procedure Rules relating to costs and knowledge and application of costs law
·Excellent written work and attention to detail
·Excellent communication skills
·Excellent analytical and organizational skills and ability to use own initiative but know when to seek guidance and supervision
·Experience of clinical negligence / healthcare litigation would be highly useful
·Experience of Microsoft excel is beneficial
