Exciting opportunities have arisen within Legal Services (part of the City Solicitor’s Office) for 2 experienced Property Lawyers.
This is an opportunity to work in an exciting and forward-thinking local authority as part of a dynamic and multi-disciplinary legal department during the implementation of change and improvement plans following the recent Best Value report on the Council. The work will be fast paced and highly varied in nature.

The successful applicants will undertake a wide range of property legal work to include sales, purchases, landlord and tenant, and development work within a local authority context. You will be familiar with Best Value and UK Subsidy Control requirements in a property environment. Experience of property litigation to include disputed renewals and repairs issues, or of leasehold enfranchisement, is of particular interest. With a confident, can-do attitude, you will be comfortable working either in a team or on your own, and in providing risk-sensitive advice to officers at all levels of the authority and to elected Members on matters of topical concern including disposal strategy, funding, and the protection of the Council’s interests.
A Solicitor, Barrister, or FCILEx, you will have excellent organisational, drafting, legal research and communication skills, be competent in using standard Microsoft Office applications, and be able to prioritise your work in a dynamic environment. You need to be flexible and innovative in your approach, helping us to the Mayor’s and Council’s challenging aims and priorities for the City and its residents. Experience of working in local government is desirable but not essential.
