Sole Legal Counsel/Head of Legal (Employment) Job Part-Time - Exeter/Flexible Working


Your new company
Our client are an employer of choice in the local market and are looking to make a first-time appointment for an In-house Counsel/Head of Legal to join their office in Exeter. This is a permanent, part-time role (circa 20 hours per week) and the company are flexible regarding working pattern. The team are currently working remotely however post-COVID you will be required to commute to their office in Exeter, therefore it is likely that you will live within commuting distance. This is an important role for them and they are committed to completing a remote recruitment process and onboarding during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will support the business on a broad spectrum of matters; principally on employment and HR matters however you will also get involved with commercial contracts (suppliers and customers) and property leases. You will be responsible for supporting senior management on any legal, regulatory, litigation, reputational and risk management issues raised, including strategic initiatives and all on-going activities. This is a standalone role and as such you will be comfortable working autonomously.

About You
The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience, gained either in-house or private practice. Ideally you will have experience in employment law and be comfortable dealing with commercial contracts and property matters however experience in employment law or just one of these areas will also be considered; the aptitude to learn new skills and ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues across all levels, functions and teams will be equally important.
