Mid Sussex is a District in the South East of England located a short distance from Gatwick, less than an hour from London and twenty minutes from Brighton and a short distance from both the South Downs National Park and the Ashdown Forest Special Area of Conservation. The Council offices are situated a short walk from Haywards Heath train station which provides excellent rail links to London, Brighton, Eastbourne and Worthing. Mid Sussex District Council is looking to recruit a Planning Lawyer to join our busy Legal Services Team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a Council with ambition. Mid Sussex has one of the most significant programmes of growth in the South East of England.  

The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with significant post-qualification experience of working within the area of planning law, ideally within a local government environment. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative with an ability to provide creative solutions. You will have good interpersonal and communication skills, be confident in using IT systems and have an interest in local government work.
