Job Details

We're working with a long-standing client of ours on an in-house opportunity in Birmingham. This is a unique opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join an established in-house team where the work is varied and complex with a huge amount of flexibility and autonomy.

As a professional services business, the work varies from procurement contracts, IT contracts to marketing and sponsorship agreements. As a business they want you not only to advise straight forward and jargon-free legal advice to the stakeholders but to be a real advisor to the company, so a strong level of commercial awareness is important.

You will ideally have gained a minimum of 4 years' PQE in a Commercial contract's role, this could've been solely in-house or a mixture of in-house and private practice. If your experience has been solely in practice but you've gained a secondment into industry, then I'd still encourage you to apply.

Whilst technically ability is important in this role as the work is often bespoke and complex, the company put equal value on wider skills such as; your ability to deliver information to stakeholders in a clear way, emotional intelligence, supporting initiatives around wellbeing and mental health as well as supporting other members of the team.

As a business they want their employees to be able to bring their whole self to work, they want to see your personality and allow you use more than just your 'brain' in your role. This is just part of the culture of the team and business as a whole.

Working from home and flexibility is a hot topic at the and this is something that is actively encouraged in this team. You can work from home as much as little as you'd like as long as you're able to attend the Birmingham office for bi-weekly meetings. They are also happy for you to work your hours around when it's most productive for you - if that's going to the gym first thing and starting your day later because that works for you that's great.

They're a business we've worked with for many years and believe they offer a really unique in-house opportunity. If you're looking to work in a wider team, have plenty of support from the Head of Legal and Group Counsel but lots of autonomy and sway over how and what you're working on then this role is certainly worth consideration.

The salary is really competitive within the market and they offer an excellent benefits package including car parking, private healthcare, competitive pension rates as well as huge range of wider things.
