Private Client Solicitor/Legal Executive , Bristol

This is a superb opportunity to join a Top 200 UK Law firm who are looking to make an appointment at Team Leader level.

You will be highly motivated by this area of law and will relish the opportunity to lead a high performing team with a well known firm. As well as having your own caseload , which will involve complex and high value work, you will also mentor and supervise other team members.

You could have any level of post qualification experience and you must have supervisory skills.

The successful candidate will be personable, self-motivated, adaptable and have experience of all aspects of non-contentious Private Client work.

Previous people management experience in a Private Client department is also required. As the position is responsible for managing and supervising team members, alongside running a caseload, being well organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and having excellent communications skills is essential.

The successful candidate potentially only needs to work in the office for one day per week. If you wished to work in the office full time though that would be possible also.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Advising clients on all aspects of Private Client matters including, but not limited to:

Wills including providing appropriate tax and estate planning advice;
Administering estates including taxable and non-taxable estates and applying appropriate tax reliefs and providing advice regarding post-death planning;
The creation and registration (where appropriate) of different Powers of Attorney;
Deputyships, the Court of Protection including applications for appointment and Deputyship accounts;
The creation and administration of lifetime trusts including Compensation Protection Trusts;
Day to day management and supervision of the team including supporting and assisting colleagues as and when required;
Budget management for the Group.

Skills/Competencies required:

Self-sufficient but also having the necessary qualities to work as part of a team whilst leading it,
Extensive tax and trusts knowledge and expertise;
Extensive non-contentious Private Client knowledge;
Excellent people management skills and experience of successfully managing a team;
Proven ability to manage, motivate, develop and maintain team performance;
Excellent organisational skills;
Excellent communication skills;
A proactive approach to your work and a willingness and ability to use your own initiative;
Ability to use managerial reports to ensure the group achieve set targets;
Ability to work to deadlines;
Ability to remain calm under pressure;
Ambitious and keen to take on new challenges and projects if required.

Experience

Essential:

Up to date knowledge of Court processes for obtaining a variety of Deputyship Orders and familiarity with the Mental Capacity Act 2005;
Previous management experience in a Private Client department.

Desirable:

Experience in dealing with contentious probate matters, at least at the early stages;
Experience in dealing with contentious Court of Protection matters;
Up to date welfare benefits knowledge.
