Japanese knotweed and Financial Mis-selling Solicitor / Chartered Legal Executive is required by a specialist, claimant focused litigation firm in Billingsgate, London.

The Practice undertake a variety of work including Financial Mis-selling claims, Property damage claims and Competition claims.  They have an established practice with regard to Japanese knotweed and the various legal issues which arise from it, having recent success in the case of Waistell v Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd in the Court of Appeal. The Firm are expanding into a variety of Financial Mis-selling claims – in particular with regards Mis-sold Pensions and Financial investments.

The Role & Responsibilities:
An experienced Solicitor is required to run Japanese knotweed and Financial Mis-selling cases from beginning to end with minimal supervision.  There will be significant initial training and regular discussions on case strategy with senior Lawyers, but the successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of their cases.  This will involve:
  • Dealing with initial enquiries from potential clients
  • Drafting including:
    • Letters of Claim
    • Particulars of Claim
    • Court Forms
    • Correspondence with clients and defendants
    • Filing claims and corresponding with the FSCS or FOS
    • Management of Litigation including:
  • Ensuring court deadlines are complied with
  • Preparing disclosure and trial bundles
  • Instructing and liaising with counsel and experts
  • Preparing costs budgets, draft orders and case summaries

Person Specification:
Candidates should:
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a solicitor or CILEX legal executive
  • Have a good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Have excellent drafting skills
  • Be motivated and capable of working independently
