A North London Local Authority are looking for a Locum Lawyer with experience of commercial contracts and procurement to join their busy team, initially for three months.
Your new role
As the commercial and procurement Lawyer, you will manage a full and varied caseload of legal matters with an emphasis on commissioning, procurement and contracts, including giving legal advice to colleagues within the Council. You will provide legal advice on legal matters relating to all aspects of procurement and contract law, and preparations of construction contracts, in particular JCT forms of content. You will instruct legal counsel when required and help support the development of juniors in the team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, CILEx or equivalent, with experience of working in legal services, preferably within a public sector setting conducting a caseload consisting of commissioning, procurement and contract matter. You will have a good understanding of public procurement legislation and case law, and have experience and knowledge of construction contracts. You will have exceptional time management skills and be able to work well under pressure. Finally you will have an understanding and ability to manage risk in the public sector.
