In-House Lawyer, Ringwood

About us

We are Churchill Retirement PLC, the fastest growing company in the UK retirement house building sector and we’re looking for people like you.

We’re a family-run, privately-owned business and we’re going places. We’re proud of what we do, and the people we work with. We have ambitious growth plans for the future, now employing 600 people and growing all the time.

We pride ourselves on building beautiful, quality, purpose-built one and two bedroom apartments in desirable locations across the UK for those looking for an independent lifestyle in later life. Our Developments are designed to take away all the hassle and fears that can be experienced by older people and provide security, peace of mind and independence.

We’ve won a host of awards; most recently we have been recognised by The Sunday Times Top 100 Companies as the 3rd ‘Best Company to Work For’ and in 2016 we became the first ever retirement living specialist to have been named overall ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ by the WhatHouse? Awards.

About the role

We are looking for a talented In-House Lawyer, reporting into the General Counsel and Company Secretary. You will be involved in property, land contracts and general commercial matters. Therefore, a knowledge of property law would be highly desirable, but more importantly, you will have a commercial approach to legal problem solving in a corporate setting. You will manage your own caseload as well as offer hands on support when required.  You will also assist with more complex corporate and banking transactions when necessary.

Some of the key duties include, dealing with a range of commercial matters from contractual drafting, disputes and litigation to dealing with detailed property enquiries and more general  commercial matters including corporate governance, intellectual property, and data protection issues as they relate to a fast growing, ambitious company. The work is hugely varied and can be paced, so we are looking for an individual who is able to proactively deliver highly commercial legal advice, to meet the company’s requirements.

Office based, hours of work are 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00 to 5.00pm on Friday, with one hour for lunch.

About you

We are seeking a self-motivated, proactive In-House Lawyer who enjoys working as part of a busy team. The ideal person will have a commercial approach, be solutions orientated, be able to ask astute questions and demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude. You may have specialised in your chosen field but if you seek to diversify into a more generalist commercial role, this is a great opportunity.

You’ll need to be personable and comfortable liaising with senior professionals and board members, be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and enjoy managing a varied workload.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing and dynamic organisation and for a private practice lawyer to make their first move in-house or for an existing in-house lawyer to make the move into a new and interesting sector.

How you’ll be rewarded

  • Competitive salary plus discretionary bonus
  • Company car or Cash for Car benefit
  • Annual holiday entitlement - 24 days + Bank Holidays
  • Private medical cover
  • Health Screening
  • Day off on your birthday
  • Group Personal Pension Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Eye Care Reimbursement
  • Land Introduction Bonus

If you want to be part of our success story, send your CV and a covering letter to yourcareer@crl.co.uk quoting reference number GRP1185. Closing date for applications is 01.07.21.
