About the role and our team

We are looking to recruit a proactive and committed Legal Officer within our small and supportive team in the General Registry on the Isle of Man. This is a unique role, which offers real variety - you will have the opportunity to work across the range of summary courts and gain a broad level of experience.

In this role you could act as the clerk and legal officer to the lay justices in respect of all relevant courts of summary jurisdiction. Your main role will be to administer and act as principal legal adviser to the magistrates’ adult and juvenile courts and to provide legal advice to the Chief Registrar and staff of the General Registry.

You will also undertake legal research as required and contribute to the smooth and effective operation of the courts of summary jurisdiction in conjunction with the High Bailiff and Deputy High Bailiffs.

Justice provision in many jurisdictions is in the process of review and modernisation and the Isle of Man is no exception to that.
