Senior Paralegal (Litigation)

Salary: £33,119 - £37,209

Location: London

Hours: Full time, Part time, Flexible

Contract: Permanent

Joining the Litigation Unit as a Senior Paralegal offers an exciting professional opportunity. As the CMA continues to grow, our remit expands in response to rapidly changing markets and following the UK’s exit from the EU. The work of the CMA is complex, novel and often in the public eye and benefits the lives of everyone in the UK.

Our Litigation Unit is  at the heart of the CMA Legal Service and acts for the CMA in all its civil litigation in the Competition Appeal Tribunal, High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. The successful applicant will lead a team of paralegals who support the delivery of CMA litigation and other work with the responsibility for overseeing their work in this regard.

Working with an Assistant Legal Director in managing the allocation of work to the paralegal team, you will ensure lawyers have the requisite paralegal assistance on cases at all times, as well as factoring in the availability of resources on both current and anticipated need.

You will need solid experience in costs work in Tribunals and/or High Court (or similar courts or tribunals in other jurisdictions), the ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines, flexibility and a willingness to work across the organisation. We need good team players who will help to develop the CMA’s Litigation Unit and who will contribute to the work of CMA Legal across the board.

The CMA is a hugely rewarding, diverse and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, and favourable consideration of flexible working.

The CMA are fully committed to being an inclusive employer and ensuring equal opportunities. It is a priority to make our workforce as diverse as possible, and we welcome applications from under-represented groups, including ethnically diverse people, people with a disability, and people with diverse gender identities.

Please click on the APPLY button to apply via the Civil Service Jobs website.

Closing date: 11.55pm Monday 26th July 2021.

The CMA is an accredited Disability Confident Employer and are Stonewall Diversity Champions. As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds and recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in the Civil Service Commission's recruitment principles.
