Interim Democratic Services Officer – initial 3 Months– East Anglia – £20-30 per hour Umbrella
Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with an established Local Authority in the East Anglia region who are recruiting for an Interim Democratic Services Officer to join their department.
The organisation are ideally seeking someone to take on the position on a full-time basis but candidates possessing the relevant experience who can only offer part-time hours may also be considered. This assignment is offered for an initial period of 3 Months with the possibility of extension and will require an element of office-presence in order to attend face-to-face meetings.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Democratic Services Officer to join a reputable Public Sector Organisation.
The appointed candidate will have a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the Council's governance arrangements working with elected and co-opted members of the Council. You will assist with the planning, management and co-ordination of the overall business of the Council's main committees.
Duties may include:
Assisting Councillors, Chief Executives and Borough Solicitors with their complex portfolios
Offering guidance to Councillors and officers on democratic processes, the Constitution and relevant legislation
Assisting with all the Council’s services, functions and bodies including School Admissions Appeals
Providing administrative support for meetings including Cabinet, Full Council, Planning and Licensing
Working with the Senior Leadership Support Team to ensure processes were adhered to in accordance with statutory requirements
Handling the diary management of committee meetings for Councillors and Management board
Being knowledgeable in Local Government practices and providing effective and experienced Legal Advice
A rate of £20 - £30 per hour Umbrellais offered for this position.
