In this vital role, you will be the primary lawyer dealing with civil litigation, with a case load of mainly clinical negligence and personal injury claims. Ideally the candidate will also be able to provide general advice in relation to a wide range of civil legal queries including employment law and family law.

You will be required to represent clients in respect of proceedings in the both the Magistrates’ and Supreme Court, including preparation of all documents and advocacy up to and including final hearing. The instruction of Counsel is rare.

The Public Solicitor Office is currently made up of the Public Solicitor, Assistant Public Solicitor, Consultant solicitor and trainee CILEx.

You will be a UK Solicitor or barrister with experience in representing in the County Court and High Court. A skilled communicator with a flexible approach, you will be computer literate and have strong analytical talents.

In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena.  As an officer funded by the UK Government through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.
