The British Dental Association (BDA) is the national professional association for dentists in the UK. We are currently seeking two Practice Management Consultants (NHS, Business & General Practice) to develop and provide a range of high quality practice management advice services to BDA members.

The Practice Management Consultants will provide advice on a range of high quality NHS, business and practice management advice services to BDA members.  The posts can be full-time or part-time depending on the candidate and will be initially home-based during lockdown restrictions but will eventually be based in central London.

The Team: The NHS and Business Advice team provides advice (mainly by telephone and email) to dentist members on a range of issues including the delivery of dental services in line with NHS and healthcare legislation; NHS contracting, commissioning and procurement; business matters and a wide range of other NHS and general practice issues pertinent to dentists practising and operating businesses within primary care dentistry.

Core Responsibilities: The post holders will be responsible for providing advice (mainly by telephone) to members on a range of general practice issues including the delivery of dental services in line with NHS and healthcare legislation.

They will also be providing guidance and assistance to team members and other teams across the Association as well as assisting members with draft written communications and resolution/First Tier Tribunal regarding NHS contracting, contractual disputes and performers list matters.

Key attributes  

  • An individual with a strong background in law or with strong practical experience of working within a legal, regulatory or relevant commissioning environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Good personal organisation skills so that work is prioritised correctly and deadlines are met;
  • A commitment to providing a high level of service to individuals;
  • A legal qualification or other professional qualification as well as knowledge of relevant associated aspects of law (particularly contract law and public law are desirable.
