My client is a multinational, $multi-billion distributor which is playing a significant part in the energy transition programme by supplying its products to players across the sectors including carbon capture use and storage, biofuel production, hydrogen projects, wind energy and geothermal energy etc. They are headquartered in north America, but their international business is run out of the UK, which has a small legal team.
Following a restructure there now exists an opening for a commercially minded lawyer to work alongside the current Counsel, overseeing the UK, APAC and EMEA regions and covering a diverse range of commercial and compliance issues. This is certainly a hugely varied role with significant scope to develop for a candidate who has an inquisitive mind and thirst for commercial and strategic exposure. The department is quite autonomous from the US parent and as such is offers a fair degree of discretion. You would be very much a part of the international concern and can expect significant exposure to senior stakeholders and key personnel on a global scale.
Aside advising on the full suite of commercial contract documents including sale and purchase agreements, master framework agreements, consultancy, agency, distribution, storage, license, IT, flow down, wind down and exit agreements, settlement letters, waiver letters, NDAs and standard terms and conditions in line with the groups Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements etc, you will assist as needed with international legislative and regulatory matters including GDPR, intellectual property, information technology, anti-bribery and corruption and anti-boycott laws and trade compliance laws.
Candidates from a broad background will be considered, but we'd be especially interested in speaking to candidates with at least 12 months PQE in commercial, construction, corporate or projects.
The offices are based in West Yorkshire and we'd anticipate there being a requirement to spend 60% of your time in the office. Post pandemic, the international element of the role does open up the prospect for international travel if this excites? In the main, there is a huge opportunity for the successful candidate to develop this role as they would wish, under the close supervision of a senior counsel who has an extremely strong pedigree. Salary is likely to be up to c£60k+ 20% bonus.
