Democratic Services Officer

Democratic Services Officer – Local Authority – Full Time

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a busy Local Authority in Sussex, who are known for their excellent team culture, who are recruiting for an experienced Democratic Services Officer to join their successful team.

This is a full-time assignment (35 hours per week). Initially this position will be for 6 months, with the opportunity to extend on a rolling basis. Full time or part time (three days minimum) will be considered.

This role is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Democratic Services Officer to provide high quality administrative services to contribute to the effective running of a proactive Local Authority team. This role requires the successful candidate to attend committee meetings in person every 6 weeks, but otherwise remote working is available. A laptop will be provided and on-site induction is required for first day.

Responsibilities:

• Servicing committee meetings
• Attending virtual pre-meetings
• Taking minutes
• Running the order of meetings before hand
• Supporting training sessions
• Attendance at meetings (accompanied by a lawyer)

Previous local government and democratic services experience is essential.
