Job Details

Your new company
An opportunity to join an executive agency responsible for debt and cash management for the UK Government, lending to local authorities and managing certain public sector funds. The jobholder will work alongside other members of the legal team and report to the Head of Legal. The legal team sits within a larger risk management team that also covers credit risk, market risk, operational risk and compliance. The role is initially for 6 months.

Your new role
As the legal operational and documentation support Lawyer/Paralegal, you will produce relevant documentation relating to the agencies debt issuance programme (eg for gilt auctions or the agencies standing repo facility). You will coordinate internal and external stakeholders involved in the debt issuance processes and provide transactional support to the agencies gilt syndication programme. Finally, you will contribute to the further development of legal and documentation processes and procedures as well as providing ad-hoc support relating to other risk team activities, including support of gilt and Treasury bill auctions and tenders.

What you'll need to succeed
You should either be qualified to practise law in England & Wales as a solicitor or barrister or be an experienced paralegal with strong technical skills. You ideally should have experience in the production of debt issuance and listing documentation as well as being familiar with documentary aspects of debt capital markets syndications. You should also be comfortable with using electronic systems and Excel spreadsheets to produce information such as outstanding amounts, accrued interest and cash values of gilts as well as working accurately within tight deadlines. Finally, you will have experience of coordinating internal and external stakeholders, including managing internal reviews and sign-offs, managing reviews by external legal advisers, and managing external processes such as stock exchange listings, to ensure completion of end-to-end processes within tight deadlines.

What you'll get in return
You will receive a flexible rate (PAYE or Umbrella) and will have exposure to a highly skilled and experienced Legal team. You will be expected to work in the agencies offices onsite for at least 3 days a week and 2 days from home.
