We are looking for a specialist education and public law solicitor in both our Cardiff & London offices

We are seeking 2 full-time solicitors (preferably with 2-5 years PQE), 1 in each office, to handle a diverse and interesting caseload which is part of our education and public law practices. The role will involve advising clients on a variety of contentious matters in relation to schools, universities, and other education providers as well as local authorities and central government bodies primarily on behalf of individual claimants. The work will include breach of contract advice and claims, negligence, discrimination, tribunal appeals, higher education appeals and approaches to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, human rights cases and judicial review including community care cases. The successful candidate will join a thriving and growing team who are office based but can also operate remotely. The appointees will need to demonstrate the ability to handle their own cases and commercial awareness, including a proven record of developing a privately funded caseload together with experience of legal aid.  It is likely that your caseload will be a mixture of private and publicly funded work.

Salary:

London circa £30,000 - £50,000 depending on experience NQ – 5years.

Cardiff £35,000 - £60,000, again depending on experience. 2-8 years PQE

Starting date: Preferably December 2021/January 2022

Requirements: -

Proven ability to manage a profitable caseload of mixed private and legal aid work.

Strong communication skills

Preferred: -

Experience in bringing/defending civil claims against/on behalf of schools, universities, or public bodies.

Experience in bringing/defending claims based on the Equality Act 2010

Experience working with Tribunal appeals and judicial reviews

Knowledge of the education sector
