Location: York office (Located south of the river close to Knapton)
Experience: Min 5 yrs PQE
Salary Guide: £38000 - £48,000
Full time and Part time hours will be considered


This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Family solicitor with the knowledge, skills and mindset to thrive in a developing firm. The role is based in their office in central York making this an ideal opportunity for commuters.
The primary focus of this Family Solicitor role is to take on the responsibility of managing your own caseload under the supervision of a Director but with the objective of providing commercial advice and practical legal support to our client base as we continue to grow.
This role is part of a succession plan with great future potential for the right candidate.
The Family Solicitor Role – Duties and Key Requirements
  • To undertake fee earning work, working both independently, with minimal supervision and as a member of the team;
  • To maintain existing relations with the firms clients and assist and help develop new relationships with third party referrers;
  • Managing existing, cross department and new family clients, with a focus on:
  • Relationship breakdowns
  • Divorce
  • Separation
  • Dissolution and financial remedy applications
  • Children matters
  • Pre and post-nuptial agreements
  • Must be willing to work closely with other departments within the firm on joint projects;
  • Must be willing to participate in the growth and future development of the department, assisting in the build up of the client base and marketing the Firm’s services;
  • To comply with the company policies and performance targets; and
  • Meet the highest quality and ethical standards.
  • A personable and diplomatic team player
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and handle various matters simultaneously
  • Excellent client care, time and organisational management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven skills in business development and marketing
