Permanent Principal Planning & Highways Lawyer – East of England – Hybrid Flexible Working - £50,000 D.O.E

 

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are delighted to be recruiting for a Principal Planning & Highways Lawyer to join a respected Public Sector Organisation with bases in multiple regional offices on a Permanent, full-time basis.

This organisation particularly values the concept of a balanced work/life ratio and is happy to accommodate remote working arrangements, should this be desired.

The appointed candidate will have thorough knowledge of Planning Law and will have professional experience gainedwithin Local Government.

 

Previous management experience would be advantageous for this role.

 

Daily duties may include:

  • Providing legal advice and services to client organisations in planning, development and highways matters and other corporate or constitution and administrative matters

  • Providing high quality, innovative, well researched and comprehensive specialist legal advice to clients (including elected members and senior officers)

  • Managing a complex caseload and delivering advice within the timescales required by the client

  • Acting as a source of legal advice and support to any of the client Councils’ Committees and Directorates as directed

  • Attending courts and tribunals undertaking advocacy where required and to represent clients in negotiations and discussions with third parties

  • Instructing and managing suppliers of external legal services such as solicitors and barristers in accordance with the requirements of each client

  • Leading and improving the service to client organisations, in the area of planning & highways, to ensure the provision of an excellent standard of client care and value for money

    The position offers a salary of up to £50,000 depending on experience as well as a number of additional benefits, including:
