Job Details

This is an excellent opportunity to join a boutique law firm in London and head up their property department. In essence, on offer is a greenfield Head of Department & board level opportunity.

The Firm:

This is an award-winning boutique luxury asset law firm acting for clients across the world. As one of the world's leading specialist luxury asset law firms, they advise in relation to assets such as private jets, superyachts, high-end property and fine art.

The Role:

The firm is looking for someone self-sufficient with a strong practice; perhaps this could suit someone knocking on the door of Partnership wanting that step up, wanting to do more of their own thing and establish a team. That would theoretically be ideal. However, various types of background may work, so if that is not you, please don't be put off.
Property is not something anyone else has experience in, so they want someone with the attitude and expertise to run their practice with the firm's support, systems and infrastructure to grow a team.

It's not a completely fresh set-up; there is a book of deals that have bene ongoing, but in reality, there won't be continuous work to pick up; however, there will be the opportunity to cross-sell. You will be 100% supported to grow something extraordinary.

The firm is looking for someone not to be a sales/purchases lawyer but to be a font of knowledge for all things 'property'. This will be important so as and when HNW/UHNW clients have a property related matter, the firm has the right experts in place to give full service.

This is a board-level role where you will run the department, and they want a truly trusted advisor to head this up, working together to create an exciting platform.

Salary/Remuneration:

Salary will be proportionate to billings; the firm's existing Directors appreciate that any covenants will impact year 1 but want someone who can bring that back after that and build on it further.

The firm is ready to pay well for the right person; for example, if you bill £600k, then there's no objection to paying you £200k as a basic salary, however with covenants in place, in year 1 you may not get that basic, but only until your true value is realised. As soon as you have proven your billings, you'll be paid in line with that.
Also, for any client you bring in, you get 10% of the fee's billed from that introduction as pure commission. In effect, this is their bonus structure and can be very lucrative for the right person, particularly when establishing a client base at the firm anyway.

Place of work:

They are in the City currently but are moving to a new office in Mayfair in early 2022. So that is being worked out logistically now.

In any event, they will operate a hybrid working model; you don't have to live in London, as long as you're servicing the HNW/UHNW London market.

This is a stand out opportunity with a unique firm in London and is not to be missed.

Please apply now for immediate confidential consideration, or call Charlie Simpkin at J.M.C. Legal Recruitment for a discreet conversation.
