COSTS LAWYER (DRAFTSMAN)

SHREWSBURY

As part of our continued growth and expansion we have an exciting opportunity for a Costs Lawyer to continue work leading and developing our in-house Costs Department for Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence enhancing costs recovery and reducing reliance and costs on external providers.

You will join our leading legal firm as recognised by Chambers UK and the Legal 500. Working with a leading team of lawyers who have a strong expertise in a whole range of personal injury and clinical negligence claims this is a great opportunity to be part of a close and supportive environment utilising and developing your skillset.

You will be required to prepare your own bills and follow the costs process through to detailed assessment where necessary as well as supervise and develop the Costs Team. You will help shape and improve our costs offering and practice / client service and will ensure a consistent costs strategy is being utilised by all Fee Earners. The successful applicant will be expected to monitor and manage a panel of external costs lawyers , as well as developing and line managing a costs team.

You will have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a Costs Lawyer role and demonstrable experience of managing a team and developing people along with experience of claimant and defendant costs.  Experience of drafting bills of costs and budgets for Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence cases is essential along with cost negotiation and advocacy experience.
