We have two openings for two experienced advocates to join our Operational Team. One based at Derbyshire Force Headquarters and the other is based at Northamptonshire Force Headquarters. Both are 37 hours, full-time permanent positions

As part of East Midlands Police Legal Services team, you will have the opportunity to work with the five forces across the East Midlands in some of the most interesting areas of the law.

As a qualified Solicitor or Barrister, ideally with higher rights, you’ll advise police officers and staff on matters of day-to-day operational policing, civil law and prepare and build cases for applications to the Coroner’s Court, Magistrates’ and Crown Courts. Our work is broad, so your caseload will be varied as you provide legal advice and representation on a wide range of issues. From inquests, police misconduct, closure orders and cash seizures to firearms legislation and violent offenders orders our work changes all the time so you’ll need to be up for the challenge!

Using your knowledge and skills you will be involved in training relating to specific civil law and operational police matters that are specific to the police service.
