Assistant Team Leader – Civil Litigation

Overview

We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Team Leader – Civil Litigation to our legal practice, HB Public law (HBPL).  HBPL is an innovative and ambitious legal service committed to the public sector and we seek a qualified lawyer who embody this approach.  The post holder will be required to support the development of HB Public Law jointly with the other Assistant Team Leaders and Team Leaders.  The post holder will advise on matters arising in all areas of civil litigation, including housing, homelessness, debt recovery, property litigation and licensing, covering multiple clients, including local authorities casework which includes complex corporate projects.

About you

The post holder will be a senior member of a team of specialist lawyers and will be expected to contribute to the development and management of that team and the legal practice.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be a qualified solicitor, barrister or appropriately qualified overseas lawyer.
  • Have detailed knowledge and understanding of English law, practice and procedure in relation to civil litigation, including housing, homelessness, debt recovery and licensing
  • Have detailed understanding and awareness of the necessity of governance arrangements to support effective decision making, as well as concepts underpinning local government law and public law principles as applicable to local government. Work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst handling a complex and diverse workload, including high profile cases and advising elected members.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent client care skills, including providing written and oral advice to a high standard and managing multiple client relationships
