Job Details
Our client is offering the opportunity for an experienced solicitor to join their Construction team which works closely with the Property and Dispute Resolution teams. This role can be either part-time or full-time.
Working across the construction sector with clients of all types and sizes and at all stages of projects, the team prides itself in having a particular specialism in anticipating, preventing, and resolving a broad range of contract disputes within construction projects. Combining legal expertise with intelligence, pragmatism, and commercialism to achieve the best possible outcome for their clients, our client has built a reputation for being straight talking, accessible, and responsible. This contributes to the development and maintenance of long lasting and trusted client relationships.
To be considered for this role, you will have over 5 years' experience of non-contentious construction work, experience of contentious construction work would be beneficial but is not essential. An excellent knowledge of all major standard form contracts is required, in particular JCT and NEC, as well as experience of drafting and negotiation bespoke amendments. You will also demonstrate the ability to draft and review warranties, bonds, guarantees, novations, reliance letters, and consultant's appointments. In addition to this, you will be expected to draft and review development agreements, pre-let agreements with works obligations and licences for alterations. Having knowledge of UK procurement legislation applying to construction and land development contracts is desirable but not essential. There will be the expectation for the successful candidate to take an active role in business development.
