The team

This role will be within the Family team to undertake fee earnings work working independently and with the team.

The purpose of the role is to develop and maintain excellent relationships with the firms’ current clients as well as contributing to business development and growing the family law portfolio.


This is what you will be doing:

  • To undertake fee earning in Family Law and make a profitable contribution to the team with
    minimal supervision.
  • Supervision of fee-earning work undertaken by colleagues.
  • Management of support services for which you are responsible.
  • Maintaining files in an orderly up to date manner and comply with the Firm policies and file management.
  • Completing time recording and other management records required by the Firm.
  • Cross-referring work and clients within the Firm.
  • Using and assisting in the development of the relevant IT and Case Management system for the department.
  • Financial control with particular regard to cash flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
  • To comply with the Firm’s policies in the carrying out of all duties and assist Senior Solicitors in achieving a smooth through put of work.
  • To support the successful development of the Firm in line with its overall objectives including client care.
  • Participate in marketing activities and cross referral work whether on a firmwide, departmental or office basis.
  • Using and assisting in the development of relevant IT and case management systems for your department.
  • To comply with the relevant Solicitors Accounts Rules and Solicitors Code of Conduct, along with Money Laundering Regulations and Firm/Solicitors Regulation Authority Guidance.
  • To identify and meet your job-related training and development needs.
  • Any other matters reasonably required by the Directors.

The experience you will bring to the team

  • NQ - 2 years PQE
  • Willing to participate in the growth and future development of the department, building up the client base and marketing the firm’s services.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Excellent client facing skills and the ability to nurture existing clients and third-party relationships as well as the ability to help develop new business and assist in networking events.
  • The ability to prioritise work and to work to strict timescales where required.
  • Technical proficiency and good IT skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to contribute to the client base and help market the company’s wider services.
  • Ability to contribute towards strategic plans for the department aligned with the business plans for the company.
