Private Lending - London - 4-7 PQE - Partner track

Our client is a major global law firm. Their lawyers represent some of the world's leading financial institutions including specialty lenders and funds.

Many of these clients offer bespoke lending services, structuring debt and equity and constructing complex bespoke arrangements to provide the flexibility needed by the market. These are not "cookie cutter" loan transactions; every deal the team works on is different, and these clients are in effect market makers, generating sometimes significant returns through lending activity.

The market for this type of lending has exploded over the past couple of years, and our client is a leading player - the team has been very successful, and they are looking to expand with the addition of a mid-senior Associate. Significant future growth is anticipated, and the team are looking to hire an ambitious candidate whose career the Partners can support and mentor.

This is a tremendous opportunity to move to a role with genuine career prospects. In order to be considered you will have:

• Training and 4-7 years' relevant post-qualification experience in banking and finance law, gained from a well-regarded City or international law firm;
• A wide variety of preferably lender-side banking experience, and the ability to structure and draft bespoke lending documentation to suit a client's needs;
• Ideally some experience of private lending and how funds operate;

As well as the above technical skills, you will also have:

• Excellent verbal and written communication and drafting skills;
• A self-confident, proactive, pragmatic approach to tasks and projects; and
• Enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to building and maintaining strong internal and external (including client) relationships.
• The ability to work well in both a team and individually, and to interact/build relationships with people at all levels
• A desire to be proactively involved in business development and marketing with a view to handling networking and client contact from the outset
• Effective time management and a solid understanding of how a law firm works as a business.

Solicitors with experience gained in London are preferred, but high-quality candidates from other jurisdictions with relevant private lending experience would also be considered.
