JOB ROLE:
My client is a world leading company in broadband, telecommunications and media. They are looking for a Director of Legal Operations to lead, transform and grow their in-house legal team, with the future goal of taking the function forward as a successful self-standing legal provider / ABS.
The legal team undertakes both contentious and non-contentious legal work including defending claims (EL/PL, Motor and Consumer), damages recovery and real estate.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To act as a change management driver & create a transformation programme to take the function forward as a succesful 3rd party provider in this space
- To pursue and defend legal claims across multiple legal work types and jurisdictions
- To deliver value to internal stakeholders through the successful deployment of legal resource across 6 operational teams and 50+ staff
- To transform the operating model of legal operations within shared services utilising system automation and centralisation strategies and to evaluate the most effective operating model for legal operations across the group
- To supervise advice given on claims trends, risk mitigation and loss avoidance to operating companies within the group
- To consider the impact of acquisition and disposal of assets within the group
- To role model behaviours, standards and ethical conduct that is inclusive, team focused and high performing
- To ensure the sustainability of the team by properly training, coaching and deploying resource within the department
- To build strong relationships with learning institutions
- Ability to drive change management & business transformation initiatives
- You will have experience of growing a legal service offering either by deploying an ABS structure or by building your firms client base in the external market
- Previous experience working within a fast paced, international, multi-region business where your leadership and strategic drive has made a visible impact
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Standout colleague capable of working with and positively impacting a diverse environment
- Prior experience with people management, leadership, and talent development, through mentoring & by example
- Strong commercial acumen with broad exposure and understanding of Finance
- Can-do mentality, pragmatic, drives for excellent results
