All this in an area of 984 square km with a population of 67,000, it's no easy task but our team of around 270 employees are integral to supporting our local area and working hard to provide the best positive service for our customers.

Torridge District Council are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated lawyer (solicitor, legal executive or barrister) to play an important part in the delivery of legal services to the Council.

Responsibilities of Post

The successful candidate will be responsible for dealing with a varied caseload and providing professional legal advice to members, officers and at committees, enabling the council to deliver its priorities to the communities it serves.

Requirements of Post

This role requires you to have a broad understanding of the law affecting local government but also detailed working knowledge and experience in one or more areas of law relevant to Local Government (e.g. property, conveyancing, environmental health and housing, planning, contract law, litigation)

You will also have to be a confident communicator, able to influence, persuade and advise in a professional manner whilst also remaining politically aware.
