Childcare Lawyer

Childcare Lawyer – 3 months initially – Full Time – Local Authority

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a busy/successful Local Authority, who are known for their excellent team culture, who are recruiting for a Childcare Lawyer to join their department.

This is a full-time assignment (36 hours per week). The successful applicant will be required, during an initial period of induction, to work in the office for 1-2 days per week in order to ensure they complete their induction into our ways of working. Thereafter the candidate will be able to work flexibly in line with the team generally, but this is likely to require a day in the office on a weekly basis at present.

Responsibilities will include having a caseload of 8-10 childcare cases in court proceedings, plus pre proceedings cases and other matters relating to care proceedings, including Deprivation of Liberty applications for children; secure accommodation; adoption and discharge of care order matters. 

Requirements:

• Must have previous experience of undertaking this work at another local authority and be able to evidence success in all aspect of case management.  
• The ability to undertake advocacy is not a requirement of this role, but subject to managing a caseload of matters this could be undertaken.
