Job Details

The post holder must have a minimum of 6 years’ experience post legal qualification and at least 3 years’ experience of supervision of other legal staff and working within a diverse legal environment for example, organising / working with other professional, courts, witnesses, external stakeholders, handling and delivering within a mixed client involvement. 

The post holder must either be a Solicitor, or Legal Executive who is a Fellow of CILEX or a qualified Barrister.  The post holder will have casework as well as management responsibilities and so it is essential that the post holder has the ability to train/guide others in the giving of professional legal advice, offering balanced risk advice for the benefit of the clients’ desired outcomes, as well as demonstrable in-depth knowledge of relevant legal specialism.

The role will involve the provision of complex legal case work commensurate with the post, which could involve giving in-depth legal and strategic legal advice on projects from time to time and attendance at Tribunals.  The post holder must have a comprehensive understanding of comparative County Council, client structures and procedures.  Fee earning target anticipated to be 1200 to 1250 dependent on the number of line management responsibilities undertaken.

The management aspect of the role will require the post holder to provide professional workload support to others, including the allocation of work.  The postholder will have accountability for delivery of chargeable targets within the team and will be responsible for review of finance budgets and targets within the team.   The post holder must have and be able to demonstrate a commercial awareness.   Some assistance with other supervisory duties of staff will be required.
