Leading law firm looking to recruit dedicated and experienced Solicitor for highly sought permanent positon.

Litigation Department background: 

Our client’s Commercial Litigation department delivers a personal and professional service with clear and pragmatic commercial solutions; drawing on a deep knowledge of the various sectors and industries their clients are based in. Our client’s focus is always on achieving sensible outcomes for clients by finding the most effective result for their circumstances and nature of their dispute.

As part of its service, our client’s commercial litigation experts apply alternative dispute resolution services (ADR), where possible, and work with client businesses to construct the most efficient and cost-effective solution for them. These services may involve consensual processes such as negotiations and mediations in order to encourage parties to work together, with an aim to settle the commercial disputes out of court.

Our client’s aim is to assist its clients in identifying the issues in a commercial dispute, by using early case analysis methods, following which they provide their clients with clear, concise advice on their dispute and prospects of success.

The department prides itself on its ability to be proactive and responsive when effectively managing commercial client legal affairs. Their practitioners work with clients to create a goal focused vision, prepare strategies and successfully execute solutions to deal with a commercial dispute either by ADR or Court Litigation, whilst minimising cost and risk.

Our client’s Commercial Litigation practitioners have considerable amount of experience in settling cases out of court without the need to litigate. When there is a need to litigate, which can often be the case when legal and factual issues cannot be resolved, cases are prepared properly, in order to resolutely carry out advocacy and represent clients achieve the best possible results in Court.

The Role

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report directly to Department Director
  • Professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs
  • Responsible for all aspects of Commercial Litigation work and on occasions, where appropriate providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
  • Ability to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities
  • Assisting with casework including dealing with a range of Litigation cases including: ADR/ mediation; Banking and financial disputes; Bankruptcy and insolvency; Breach of contract disputes; Civil fraud; Commercial property/ company disputes; Debt recovery and enforcement claims; Intellectual property infringement disputes; Interim applications  as well as undertaking your own advocacy
  • Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
  • Dealing with correspondence
  • Maintaining accurate time costing procedures
  • Implementing any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly file reviews ensuring that these are dealt with promptly
  • Ensuring compliance with file management.

Key Skills Required

  • 2+ years contentious Litigation experience in private practice
  • Must have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying
  • Previous proven supervisory experience and working to key performance indicators is an advantage
  • Professional with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with client matters in a sensitive manner and resolve complicated practicalities
  • Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to use own initiative and sound judgment
  • Working knowledge of the publically funded Litigation work and have the ability to service privately funded cases
  • Have extensive experience in dealing with Litigation related work
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage

Excellent IT Skills -familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills
