The Role

This Top 100 firm is seeking a Senior Associate Competition lawyer.

The role requires an experienced Competition Lawyer to join this Top 100 firm's London-based team, which provides pragmatic and commercial advice to many businesses. The team also advise individual directors on their obligations, including where enforcement steps are taken against them.

The team advises on an array of competition matters, including mergers, anti-trust, consumer/contracts issues and subsidy control (as well as legacy issues arising from EU State Aid).

• The team is experienced in integrating competition law advice with the broader matters involved, including selective distribution networks, joint ventures, digital markets and the increasing convergence with the regulation of personal data usage.
• The team works closely with other specialist teams across the firm. These include Corporate, Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Energy, Projects and Technology teams.
• They also advise public-sector bodies when engaging with markets, including those concerning regulated procurement processes.

The role would suit a Senior Associate wishing to progress their career because there is an established internal workload and the opportunity to grow the practice.

The successful candidate will report to one of the firm's senior commercial partners, who has extensive experience in this field and manages a broader commercial practice.

The Requirements

• Competition Solicitor roughly 4-8 years PQE (more experience will be considered

Experience of some or all of the following aspects of practice:

• UK Merger control - with some cross-border aspects
• Anti-trust, including restrictive trade practices, abuse of dominant position, block exemptions etc
• National Security and Investment Act 2021
• Regulated procurement (i.e. under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and related regulations for utilities, concessions and security/defence)
• Subsidy Control
• UK internal market
• Trade, tariffs, WTO, TCA and EU legacy issues.
