Senior In-House Lawyer - Utility Company - Nairobi

Our client is a tremendously innovative and dynamic gas supplier in Africa who use effective technological methods to provide affordable gas to countries on the continent with the key ambition to increase their operations internationally.

The rapidly expanding legal team now requires the services of an experienced lawyer who will primarily support colleagues with negotiations and business interactions on a wide variety of commercial matters. You will also support on corporate governance matters and regulatory & compliance obligations across the group's jurisdictions, and on projects supporting the group's corporate and business development strategy which is influenced by tech/software.

This is a fantastic opportunity in a position of influence where you will be working closely with legal and business teams to draft, review and negotiate a range of agreements including joint venture agreements, agreements for supply of goods/services, MOUs and NDAs. Candidates will also be expected to manage internal systems to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory & compliance obligations and internal policies, including providing training where necessary, for example, on the group's GDPR, anti-bribery and corruption, modern slavery and conflict of interest requirements.

It will be advantageous for applicants to be legally qualified in Kenya or in another jurisdiction with sufficient expertise in the gas industry. Candidates should have gained seven or more years of experience working within in-house legal teams for a company in a relevant sector. Applicants with previous experience of working in Africa would be preferred, but that is not a necessity.

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Renumeration: £25,000 - £35,000 + comprehensive medical insurance (individual and family)
