There are two positions – 1 Full-time, Permanent position and 1 Full-time, Fixed Term position for 2 years. You’ll work 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll provide secure high-quality legal services, advice on all aspects of planning law and work closely with the Council’s planning department to support the Council’s function as Local Planning Authority. You’ll routinely attend meetings with Planning Committees, Planning Officers and deliver Member training on legal matters. Liaising with officers and solicitors for applicants, you’ll work directly with Planning Lawyers and the wider team in the division. Using your expertise, you’ll provide solutions focused planning law advice and support to the Council and other public bodies. Dealing primarily with cases within your area of specialism you’ll develop your own skills and experience whilst working closely with other legal teams and areas.
What you’ll need
As a highly skilled lawyer, you’ll have significant knowledge of Planning Law and practice. With significant post qualification experience in Planning law, you’ll have experience of advising at planning committees. With the ability to work as part of a team, you’ll ensure the provision of quality, client focussed and cost-effective legal services. Using strong communication skills, you’ll build and manage external relationships with clients carrying through assigned tasks and matters to conclusion. Pragmatic in your advice, talented, and proactive, you’ll work effectively with client departments to find solutions.
