Job Details

Are you a corporate lawyer looking for something a little different? If you thrive on the buzz of transactional work but want something that doesn't have the feast and famine culture this role could be for you. This business don't believe in their lawyers being over worked and offer a clever blend of work to ensure that people can enjoy a decent work life balance.

Our client, an impressive international business, are highly respected within professional services but don't operate like a conventional practice. They offer access to some of the largest household name clients in the world across a diverse range of sectors and you would be given every opportunity to work with them.

They are ideally looking for someone with broad experience across M&A, equity investments and joint ventures, equity incentive arrangements, corporate structuring and international business reorganisations. In order to be able to take on this role they envisage that you'd have an absolute minimum of 6 years pqe gained within either an international or strong mid-tier firm, however you could be much more senior.

The role will involve:

  • providing corporate legal advice on a broad range of client solutions including establishing corporate structuring and reorganisations, M&A, equity investments, joint ventures and equity incentive arrangements
  • it is both domestic and cross border
  • building relationships with other teams and clients within the business to develop and provide multi-disciplinary solutions
  • leading teams on multi-disciplinary projects in the UK and internationally
  • project managing and driving projects to conclusion
  • training and mentoring more junior team members
  • providing corporate legal advice on a broad range of client solutions including establishing corporate structuring and reorganisations, M&A, equity investments, joint ventures and equity incentive arrangements

It would suit someone who is:

  • an entrepreneurial self-starter who is excited by the opportunity to provide legal services in a different environment and manner to a traditional commercial law firm as part of fully integrated multi-disciplinary practice
  • commercially minded and keen to become a more rounded business adviser
  • a team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines
  • enjoys assisting with the development of junior team members
  • good with clients and enjoys building relationships and spotting and developing new opportunities and client relationships both within the businesses network and externally

The successful layer will be really involved in servicing the clients and building the team from what is a relatively early stage in its development in Leeds, but has wider national support. As a consequence, there is massive opportunity for career progression and development and this will very much be driven by you rather than being restricted by current structures.

This is a fantastic opportunity, that in addition to offering a really collaborative multi discipline working environment, top clients, and a genuine opportunity for career progression, has a strong remuneration package. As expected, the salary on offer is highly competitive but the benefits are also really special, with a pension and bonus scheme rarely seen within law firms as well as a generous car allowance.

Whilst the primary office will be in Leeds, there is considerable flexibility with expecting people working anywhere from 2 days a week to a day a fortnight in the office. Also worth flagging is their approach throughout the pandemic, not only did they continue with pay reviews and bonus payments but the support that they offered to those needing time to care for other family members was considerable, offering fully paid time off for those who needed it. There are plenty of other examples of the support that they offered but this will give you a flavour.
