An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Legal to join a Local Authority in the South East of England for an initial 6 month period with the view this could be extended further.

The successful Head of Legal will ideally be able to go into the office 1-2 days per week, working on a hybrid working model.

Candidates must be a qualified lawyer and will ideally have previous management experience within Local Government.

As a Head of Legal, your role will include, but is not limited to:

Providing leadership and supporting the corporate governance of the Council
To work closely with Elected Members and provide leadership, guidance and direction to colleagues within the Legal and Democratic Services function, including Elections and Information Governance
To be the Council's principal legal advisor and the Council's Monitoring Officer
To ensure that Council contracts, policies and procedures, including election issues, are in accordance with the latest developments of both national and European legislation (whilst relevant).
