Inhouse Property Lawyer within a Charity

Absolutely one off, in house property role within a large charity. Managing between 4 and 5000 properties across the UK, in this role you will join a legal team who oversee all property transactions for the organisation. This is an amazing opportunity to move entirely away from a commercially focused environment into a charity structure. Flexible working and flexi time are standard as well as excellent pension (up to 16% employer contribution) and holidays (25 days plus one week at Christmas and flexitime of 1 day per month).

Time recording is purely for internal purposes and targets within this charity organisation are nothing like private practice! You will need an existing knowledge of property transactions ideally having looked at development work and planning work which can be from either a commercial property or residential property context.

Within this charity there is no expectation of working long hours and it is a close knit friendly team based in Manchester. Ideally you will be present in the office one day a week but if this sounds like the job for you and you are further afield then we definitely want to talk to you, as with all things about the working arrangement, coming into the office is flexible.

There is progression within the role as you would learn everything about the charity and relevant charity law. You will also build up knowledge of trusts. Charity and trust knowledge is not expected as a prerequisite for this role. There will always be something to learn as the properties are often unusual or quirky. The team is made up of people who enjoy working there and have stayed for a long time because of the environment and the interesting work.

If you are looking for an entirely different way of working in an entirely different environment then this is a great opportunity for you. This is not a client facing role in the traditional sense you will not be working with commercial clients or residential clients. An empathetic approach will be required and your reward will be the flexible working conditions. Salary is set at £40,000 and as a charity there is no scope to change that.
