Senior Lawyer - Asbestos

Sacco Mann are keen to speak with a Senior Lawyer specialising in asbestos-related disease to join our clients team in Newcastle who are recognised as one of the UK's leading teams by credible directories including The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, as well as being highly recommended in The Times' Best Law Firms 2022.

The successful candidate will have a committed background of representing Claimants and victims of asbestos exposure, matched by a strong track record of running asbestos cases. You will have a natural ability to provide legal services with a personal touch, demonstrating your care, understanding and sensitivity to clients who are terminally ill, widows who have lost their husbands or other family members who have been impacted by exposure to asbestos.

The claims will include asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis and pleural thickening. The successful candidate will run a high value Multi Track caseload and will be able to deal with all aspects of running a case from initial interview to trial, which includes cases issued in the High Court.

You will also have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of the issues involved in dealing with Multi Track asbestos cases, such as costs and litigation process. It is therefore essential you have proven and demonstrable experience of carrying out relevant investigations, obtaining relevant documents, preparing witness statements; preparing and attending Conferences and Court hearings (CCMCs/Trials.

Another key element of the role involves mentoring and supervising other team members, so an enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and expertise to grow talent within the wider team is essential. In addition to supporting the team, you will also have excellent networking skills, enabling you to nurture and develop relationships with asbestos support groups, nurses and trade unions.

Having the confidence and ability to take appropriate daily decisions on cases to ensure swift progression will be key for success.
