This is an exciting opportunity to provide commercially focused legal advice and act as lead lawyer on a range of challenging matters.

This is a part-time, permanent position working 30 hours per week to be worked over days and times to be agreed.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll provide and secure high-quality legal services for the Council and other agreed public bodies. Managing your own caseload of commercial, contract and general local government law matters, you’ll work on a wide range of projects, including the regeneration projects in the city centre. With your learned coaching skills, you’ll support junior members of the team to assist with their development and learning. You’ll support the Head of Law to ensure the provision of quality, client focussed and cost-effective legal services. Using your expertise, you’ll provide solutions focused commercial law advice and support to the Council and other public bodies.

What You’ll Need

You’ll hold a Practising Certificate and have significant experience in providing commercial and contract law advice in a Local Government capacity. As a problem solver, who is commercially aware, you’ll provide solutions focused commercial law advice and support to the Council and other public bodies. Using strong communication skills, you’ll build and manage external relationships with clients carrying through assigned tasks and matters to conclusion. Pragmatic in your advice, talented, and proactive, you’ll work effectively with client departments and the team.
