Partner | Legal Director | Ecclesiastical Law

This opportunity is a first for the firm, and an exciting opportunity for someone to build something special with the support of the firms wider Education and Charities team. Our client is looking to hire an Ecclesiastical Lawyer,  This role could be based out of any of the firms Cardiff office and will enable the successful candidate to add a new string to the firms bow.

Ecclesiastical law ties closely into education law advice for Church of England Diocesan Boards of Education and Diocesan Multi-Academy Trusts.  Each constituent part of a Diocese, from the Board of Finance to the Deanery Synod to Parochial Church Councils requires legal advice.

In this role you would deliver on:

• Acting as the Diocesan Registrar (marriage licences and burials)
• Consistory Court Hearings
• Clergy discipline
• Land and property – including agricultural
• Mergers and restructuring
• Parish reorganisations
• Charities - restricted funds and permanent endowment
• Schemes and Orders under the Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011
• Governance
• Trading companies

The firm has an excellent Agriculture and Estates team, Property team and one of the leading Educations teams in the Regions, their knowledge, support and contacts would enable you to bring a full expert service to your clients. 

About You

This role requires a specialist within Ecclesiastical law who is looking to add to their portfolio. This would be an ideal fit for someone who is perhaps looking to be part of a bigger team with wider levels of expertise to help further develop and support your clients.
