Locum Information Governance Officer – Remote Working – Up to £30 per hour Umbrella D.O.E – Thames Valley

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are recruiting for a Locum Information Governance officer to join a Local Authority based in the Thames Valley Region for an immediate start.

The assignment is offered for an initial period of 6 months with the possibility of extension thereafter dependent upon performance and will be offered on a predominantly remote basis however occasional attendance at the office would be preferable. Our client are ideally looking for someone to conduct the role on a full time basis, however part time candidates with the relevant experience may still be considered.

The council are seeking a candidate with recent Local Government experience who will be able to  provide excellent support covering all areas of information governance independently.

Duties may include:

  • Providing advice on exemptions
  • Keeping spreadsheets of requests up to date
  • Liaising with departmental contacts as required
  • Managing and advising on general day-to-day data protection compliance, legal requirements, and best practice
  • Processing Data Subject Rights requests under GDPR such as a right to erasure and rectification
  • Working to process FOI requests as necessary
  • Processing and reporting on DSAR, EIA, GDPR and FOI requests within the legal compliance timeframes
  • Acting as the primary day-to-day contact within the business to advise on potential complaints and breaches
  • Ensuring that all breaches are notified and investigated in accordance with the legal framework
  • Dealing with any ICO complaints made against the business

The position offers an hourly rate of up to £30 per hour dependent upon levels of experience.
