Locum Childcare Lawyer

3 months initially

Fully Remote Working

£45-50+ per hour umbrella (dependent on experience)

We at Panoramic Associates are working with a Local Authority in the East Midlands currently looking for a Locum Childcare Lawyer to pick up a full care caseload including matters such as care proceedings and PLO cases on an initial 3-month contract! The role is fully remote, however attendance on the first day to pick up IT equipment and complete an IT induction would be the only office attendance required. This position is being offered as full-time (37 hours/week) and would suit someone who has experience with advocacy but is looking to remain remote.

For this role, experience with advocacy is desired as the role can involve some remote hearings including case management and resolution hearings. The more complex, multi-day hearings are instructed and covered by counsel to support the legal team. It will involve working with a supportive and friendly team that provide substantial assistance to new lawyers to get updated on systems and council practices. Each lawyer also has the support of a legal assistant to aid with taking statements, collating evidence, sourcing counsel and experts and the team also have secretarial support to assist with bundles.

Essential criteria:

  • A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister, alternatively, non-qualified Lawyers with substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Good practical knowledge of Children’s Social Care and Public Law proceedings. Experience with advocacy including meetings & hearings such as PLO/CMH/IRH Ideally have recent experience of working in a local authority setting advising on Childcare matters.
  • Alternatively, if you have experience working in private practice dealing with Public Childcare matters and understand the responsibilities of the Local Authority when dealing with such cases.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
