We at Panoramic Associates are working with a Local Authority based in London who is currently looking for an Interim Education Lawyer to pick up a full caseload for an initial 3-month contract! The role can be fully remote, however, this position is being offered ideally on a part-time (3 days/week) basis. This role would suit someone who has previous experience advising on Education Law and SEN matters to conclusion within a local government setting.

The successful applicant would be joining an established, highly skilled, and supportive team & the role itself will involve the delivery of legal advice and casework for the local authority on admission appeals, SEN-related matters, Pre Action matters, and Judicial Review related to education law. The role will also advise on the appropriateness of EHC plans and be expected to represent the local authority in SEN Tribunal Appeals.  The team has excellent administrative support and a paralegal team to assist lawyers with case management. The successful applicant will be expected to support the delivery and development of the Legal Services team by assisting the Principal Lawyer with instructing this caseload.

 

Essential criteria:

  • A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive, Barrister, or non-qualified Lawyer with previous experience dealing with education matters Knowledge of and ability to apply and interpret SEN and education-related law. Knowledge of SEN court and tribunal procedures. Knowledge of local government law, especially in relation to Education law Experience in conducting case files and drafting agreements, EHC plans, and witness statements. Ability to conduct legal research, interpret legislation and summarise the key points of case law.
