About Us

Rotheras Transport Department are a major name in the provision of legal services in the East Midlands and nationwide and are highly regarded by Transport operators across the sector. We specialise in:

 

  • representing transport companies and professional drivers at regulatory hearings before the Traffic Commissioner
  • advising and representing companies and individuals undergoing investigation by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
  • providing bespoke transport regulatory and operator licensing advice
  • representing businesses and individuals prosecuted in the criminal courts by the DVSA
  • advising on cross-border transport matters including clandestine entrant civil penalties and vehicle seizures.

We also represent private individuals prosecuted in the criminal courts for motoring offences and conduct prosecutions.

Our clients include:

  • Leading multinational haulage and logistics companies
  • Goods vehicle and passenger transport operator licence holders
  • Transport Managers and professional drivers
  • Private motorists

You will be joining a team which has a wealth of experience in handling a wide range of Transport matters and providing outstanding and proactive client service.

What are we looking for in a Transport Solicitor at Rotheras?

We are looking for an ambitious individual to join our Transport team.

The ideal candidate would have prior regulatory and criminal law experience representing companies and individuals undergoing investigation and prosecution.

This position might also suit candidates from a criminal law background who are keep to develop their career and gain expertise in a specialist and privately-funded are of regulatory law.

Skills and attributes:

  • Confident appearing as advocate in a diverse range of court and tribunal hearings
  • Comfortable advising and presenting to companies at board-level
  • Experienced in handling complex caseloads under pressure
  • Proficient in preparing court bundles
  • Highly organised and focused, with proficiency in accurately reviewing company and compliance records
  • Comfortable travelling nationwide to visit clients and to attend court hearings
  • Must have a passion for business development, including writing articles, presenting to industry bodies, and developing referral relationships
  • Exceptional written, spoken, presentational and communication skills
  • A proven track record of meeting deadlines and targets
  • Strong IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office 365
  • Self-motivated and expressing a keen interest in self-development
  • Excellent client care and building relationships with colleagues, third parties and counsel
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication skills.

Training and support will be provided, and the successful candidate will be expected to take on responsibility at an early stage.

Term

This position is available on either a permanent or an initial fixed term contract depending upon prior experience. If a fixed term contract is offered, we would expect that this would develop into a permanent contract subject to the candidate demonstrating suitability and aptitude for the role.
