Job description: We are recruiting for a large local authority in North Yorkshire, who are looking for a Chief Solicitor to join them on a locum and full time basis for the provision and management of legal services to the Council.

Main Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that the Council is advised of its legal rights and liabilities and assisting the Monitoring Officer to perform their statutory duties;
• Managing the Legal Services department;
• Conduct of high level/value litigation;
• Advising the Council’s project board and taking a lead role in providing direct advice on the Council’s key priority projects; and
• Acting as Deputy Monitoring Officer

The suitable candidate will have solid managerial and local authority experience. The candidate would be expected to attend the office once a week.

Hourly rate: negotiable

Hours per Week: 37
